You can put numerical as well as alphabetical fractions.

Following are the steps to put fractions in Google Docs
- Open Google Docs
- Navigate to "View" option
- Click on Show equation Toolbar to enable it
- A New equation bar will appear below the main menu
- Click on New Equation
- Click on 'Mathematical operations"
- And click on a/b option
- A box will be inserted in the Google Docs Document
- Type number or letter you want in the numerator and then click forward arrow key on the keyboard to bring cursor in the denominator and then type number or letter in the denominator
